Music in the Parks
aka Disneyland

Music in the Parks

The Music in the Parks trip is Friday, June 4th. In short, the day entails going to a local venue near Disney and perfoming in a musical festival. Then, we travel to Disney where there is an evening awards ceremony. We generally are home between 10:30-11:00pm.

Students should plan on arriving at school on Friday at 7:00am. Students should be dressed in their concert attire. Obviously, students should bring a change of clothes. Please refer to the attached timeline and information sheet for more information.

Individuals who want to ride the bus will be allowed to based on availability of room. If you are intent on attending, be prepared to drive (unless you are coming as an official chaperone, of which there are only a limited number).

Please take a look at the timeline and info sheet (most questions should be answered there). Have a great week!

Here's the weekly music update for your magnet school for the arts!

First, congratulations to the Jazz Ensemble for their very strong performance at the Tango del Rey Jazz Festival, which was hosted by CPMA. The students played marvelously, and should be very proud of themselves.

If you took pictures or video of the event, please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so that we can get the media up on both the website and the Facebook page.

  • Friday, May 28th
    • String Orchestra Dress Rehearsal, 4:00 - 5:15

Finally, as we begin (cautiously) to look towards the summer, it may be time to start thinking about summer opportunities (i.e. you can occupy your student for a week or more at a time with a summer music camp). Some summer music camps to consider locally:

SDYS

And of course, the San Diego Youth Symphony will be holding their auditions for the 2010-11 academic year on June 17th, 19th, & 20th. Their is an appropriate group for EVERY student, and yes, they have financial aid available. Here are the documents for the youth symphony:

In short, the opportunities are out there. Encourage your student to continue to work hard and seek out those experiences that will be both educational, challenging, and fun. Have a great week and go CPMA!
